A Scout is Helpful
Helpful: useful, valuable, constructive.
At Kinetic, being helpful is what we do. In our over 30 years of service to nonprofits, Kinetic has provided counsel for thousands of projects and helped raise billions of dollars in the States and abroad. As a firm, we are committed to growing overall philanthropy by 25 percent over the next 20 years, so we continue to invest our time and resources toward improving the practice of fundraising worldwide.

Kansas City Boy Scouts of America Council Retains Hartsook for Another Campaign
Heart of America Council, Boy Scouts of America (Kansas City) has retained Kinetic to help support its fundraising goals including its camp renewal projects. The Council recognizes that to attract Scouts to camp, they must continue to make maintenance and upgrades a priority. Each year, its Theodore Naish Scout Reservation, established in 1926, and H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation, established in 1930, welcome more than 20,000 Scouts and Scout leadership.

Ask Kinetic!
Do you have a tough fundraising question?
Send your questions to askhartsook@kineticfundraising.com and we will respond by email. Your question may be featured in a future eHartsook on Scouting.
QUESTION: Some on our board have suggested that we would benefit from receiving help from outside fundraisers, but shouldn’t we be able to do it on our own?
So often, nonprofits are staffed by individuals who believe they can pull off the impossible. So, when it comes to fundraising, their first reaction is: “We can do ourselves.” But even financially, sometimes it’s better to wisely target your time and resources and stay focused on your mission, while bringing in the experts for some fundraising goals. There is a reason you are working with your nonprofit. You understand and care about the mission, but that doesn’t mean you are as familiar with the latest fundraising strategies. There are strategies available today, including research-based approaches to fundraising that you may not be aware of yet. Use your leadership skills to access the information available to your organization – and that may not mean having to do it all yourself.

Strategies for Success: Don’t Trust Your Nonprofit to a Novice
Would you trust your newborn to a nanny who had never cared for an infant? Would you trust your nest egg to a financial planner who had never created a financial plan? Would you want to be patient zero for a newly-minted cardiac surgeon? Not likely. Then why do so many nonprofits attempt a campaign for the first time without seasoned, proven guidance? I have no idea. Go here to read more.
