$750,000 in Gifts from The Sunderland Foundation Fundamental Learning Center (Wichita, Kan.) received a $400,000 gift from The Sunderland Foundation in 2019. This year, a second gift of $350,000 from the Foundation brings the total to $750,000 towards FLC’s $20-million Transforming Education campaign. FLC is well on its way to meeting the Mabee Foundation’s $2-million challenge grant with a remaining $2.9 million to be raised by January 2021. Night at the Tower Gala the National WWI Museum and Memorial’s Most Prosperous Yet The National WWI Museum and Memorial (Kansas City) hosted its annual Night at the Tower gala as a live broadcast event this year. Staff, volunteers, friends and generous supporters gathered remotely to support the National WWI Museum and Memorial’s mission. The event raised $550,000 – the largest amount ever generated by the gala. Funding will go to support the organization’s mission of remembering, interpreting and understanding the Great War and its enduring impact. KidsTLC Receives Gift to Support Team Member Development KidsTLC (Kansas City) received $18,000 for training and resources to ensure best practices among its team members. KidsTLC transforms the lives of children and families experiencing mental and behavioral health challenges, developmental trauma and autism. Summit Homes donated the gift in support of the company’s dedication to building and supporting strong communities. Nearly $1 Million in CARES Act Funding to Harvesters Harvesters – The Community Food Network (Kansas City) will receive $990,413 in federal funding through the CARES Act. Harvesters’ mission is to feed hungry people today and work to end hunger tomorrow. It is a regional food bank serving a 26-county area of northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas. Harvesters provides food and related household products to more than 760 nonprofit agencies including emergency food pantries, community kitchens, homeless shelters, children’s homes and others. This funding will be used to keep up with a higher demand for food at this time.
