The Sunderland Foundation Gifts $250,000 to the Helen R. Walton Children’s Enrichment Center

Helen R. Walton Children’s Center (Bentonville, Ark.) received a gift of $250,000 from The Sunderland Foundation (Overland Park, Kan.). The funding will be used toward the construction of the Early Childhood Initiatives Center. The Helen R. Walton Children’s Enrichment Center exists to serve families in NWA by providing high quality care and education for children six weeks of age through pre-kindergarten.

Community Services League Receives $375,000 Grant from the Hall Family Foundation

Community Services League (Independence, Mo.) received a three-year, $375,000 grant from the Hall Family Foundation (Kansas City) to expand its Bridges to Career Opportunities programming. Bridges to Career Opportunities is CSL’s workforce development training, which connects under-skilled workers to trainings that lead to viable career opportunities in high-demand industries, all while being supported in other life domains (basic needs, housing, financial coaching, etc.). Since 2016, CSL has graduated more than 50 workers from its Bridges to Career Opportunities trainings as Certified Nursing Assistants and certified welders. The Hall Family Foundation gift will increase the number of graduates through 2021.

A Lead Gift of $1 Million to Support Labette Community College’s Capital Goals

Labette Community College (Parsons, Kan.) received a lead gift of $1 million for the next phase of its Pathways to the Future campaign to construct a new athletics and wellness center and expand the College’s gymnasium. The campaign will also provide support for the annual fund and endowment. Over $2.6 million has been raised toward the total goal of $5.729 million.

ETSU Announces $120 Million Campaign – with over $50 Million Raised

East Tennessee State University (Johnson City, Tenn.) announced its $120 million comprehensive campaign to provide support for students, faculty, programs and facilities. Specific goals include $21 million for scholarships and student opportunities; $23.5 million for faculty chairs and professorships; $35 million for academic programs; and $40.5 million for matching funds to receive state support for building and renovation projects. Over $50 million has already been raised toward the University’s five-year campaign.
