More Than $11 Million Raised
Harvesters – The Community Food Network (Kansas City) is in the process of raising $15 million above its regular budget to meet a dramatic increase in demand for its programs and services during the COVID-19 pandemic. More than $11 million has been secured through gifts from the Hall Family Foundation, the Kansas City Regional COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund, Health Forward Foundation and The Sunderland Foundation, among many others. Harvesters is a regional food bank serving a 26-county area of northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas.

Time Magazine Article Features MNU Graduate
MidAmerica Nazarene University (Kansas City) recent graduate, Louis Michael, was featured in a Time magazine article “Protests Instead of Graduation, the Class of 2020 Walk the Stage of the Streets”: “…[Michael] wore his dark blue graduation outfit over a Black Lives Matter t-shirt at a protest in Oakland, California.” He hopes to inspire others to attend protests wearing outfits that “will change the narrative” of how black men are often portrayed.

$35,000 Gift to the Kansas City Public Library
The Kansas City Public Library (Kansas City) received a gift of $35,000 from the Courtney S. Turner Charitable Trust to support the Library’s 2020 season of public programming. Public programming serves as the Library’s front porch, introducing many attendees to its downtown Central Library and Plaza Branch, as well as to a broad array of physical and digital resources and services

$2-Million Challenge Grant to Fundamental Learning Center
Fundamental Learning Center (Kansas City) has raised approximately $10.1 million toward its $20-million Transforming Education campaign. The organization has been awarded a $2-million challenge grant from the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation. Once received, the $2-million gift would bring the total raised to $12.1 million. In order to receive this gift, FLC must have an additional $5.1 million committed to the project before the January 14, 2021 deadline

$100,000 Gift to DeMolay Foundation’s Second Century Campaign
DeMolay Foundation (Kansas City) received a $100,000 Leadership Gift to its Second Century campaign fund from the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma. DeMolay observed its 100th Anniversary in 2019. Kinetic is assisting the organization as it seeks philanthropic gifts to ensure the youth organization’s future. Campaign goals include additional scholarships, enhanced advisor training, increased camp opportunities, upgrades for the DeMolay museum in Kansas City, improved outreach across the country in leadership skills and strengthening the Foundation’s endowment to insure financial stability for the next century.
