$1-million Gift to National WWI Museum and Memorial
National WWI Museum and Memorial (Kansas City) received a $1-million gift from the Brad and Libby Bergman family to create a dedicated open storage and learning space. When coupled with a new staircase from the main level, these improvements will allow the Museum and Memorial to showcase thousands of objects currently in secure storage and provide the opportunity for visitors to see behind the scenes of museum operations. It will also allow the Museum and Memorial to display objects and artifacts otherwise unavailable to visitors, enable visitors to see collection staff at work and create additional spaces for small groups and students to learn about the collection and the enduring impact of World War I.
$200,000 to Lyric Opera
Lyric Opera of Kansas City (Kansas City) received a $200,000 endowment gift from Dr. Douglas Brothers given in memory of his late wife, Dr. Mary E. Brothers. The Dr. Mary E. Brothers Resident Artist Performance Fund will provide support for supplemental performance activities of the Lyric’s Resident Artists, including new productions of family-friendly operas or non-standard repertoire. The Lyric Opera brings high-quality, live operatic performances to the people of the Kansas City area and five-state region.
$100,000 to State Fair Community College Foundation
State Fair Community College Foundation (Sedalia, Mo.) received a $100,000 gift from Arlene Meyer given in her memory of her husband, Leroy Meyer. The gift is part of the College’s Stronger Workforce, Greater Community campaign. State Fair Community College
provides relevant and responsive learning experiences that empower our students and communities to prosper. The College prepares students to accomplish their goals in college transfer, career development, skill attainment or life-long learning through exemplary education and support services.
