Hartsook Institutes’ mission is to increase philanthropy by 25 percent over the next 20 years. This bold goal will be fulfilled through partnerships, education, projects and service that advance the fundraising profession and increase the opportunities for nonprofits’ fundraising success.
The Hartsook Institute for Applied Fundraising Research is the result of gifts to IU from Robert F. Hartsook, Founder and Chairman of the Hartsook Companies, Inc. The Institute will work to move fundraising research along the continuum from initial research to its application in the field.
The Hartsook Centre for Sustainable Philanthropy at Plymouth University in the United Kingdom offers a combined experience of over 60 years in the field, a first-hand knowledge of fundraising in many different countries and the ability to draw on the latest research. The School provide fundraising courses at the post-graduate level.
John List, PhD – one of the world’s leading experts on experimental economics – is the current Robert F. Hartsook Visiting Chair in Fundraising at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, Indiana University. John is Chairman of the Department of Economics University of Chicago and Kenneth C. Griffin Distinguished Service Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago. He assumes the Robert F. Hartsook Visiting Chair first held by Dr. Adrian Sargeant, Director of the Hartsook Centre of Sustainable Philanthropy, University of Plymouth, U.K.
